Interview with `AshleyxBrooke

Journal Entry: Sat Dec 29, 2012, 10:15 AM

:gummybear::gummybear:Meet photographer `AshleyxBrooke:iconashleyxbrooke::gummybear::gummybear:

:gummybear: Tell us a little bit about yourself and why you chose a camera as your weapon! :gummybear:

:giggle: Well. My name is Ashley. I've been a Deviant for over 8 years, I'm addicted to gummybears, kneesocks, owls and Glee.  Photography has been my hobby for a VERY long time. I've had a camera of sorts ever since 3rd grade so I kind of always knew I'd stick with it. Photographing just makes me happy. It puts me in this zone where no one can really bother me. I love coming up with creative images to shoot and I also love capturing memories. You look back on some of your photos and you know exactly how you felt when you took it. I dunno. I just love to shoot. :camera:

Shooting is a lot of fun!

:gummybear: Do you want this article to be pink and cute? :gummybear:

Yes yes yes yes! I hope you add in lots of gummybears too because... that will make me very happy

Challenge accepted!

:gummybear: I've noticed a lot of nature photography in you gallery as well as still life and conceptual. How do these categories make you feel? :gummybear:

Happy! Everything I take picures of makes me happy. I've recently started photographing kids which I LOVE. They are just so cute and I think a lot easier to take photos of then adults. They just want to have fun and I just want to take photos of them doing what they want. Formal portraits are just so boring.. It makes me happier when I can go out in nature with a couple models and just go at it. And when kids are in an area that they love it makes it 10x easier to shoot. I also love conceptual shoots. Always have. I like being able to take a photo and have other people find ways to interpret it. I like when a photo speaks to the viewer and makes them think. and still life? Well that's the easiest to shoot because well... they don't move  So the theme is completely up to you :) Don't have to worry about "is there something on my face?" "Bobby had too much sugar and can't sit still" "Wanna go shoot in the woods? oh massive rainstorm? NEVER MIND" Still life is just that. STILL. No disruptions.

When you put it that way...

:gummybear: What part of a photograph do you look for most to appreciate it? :gummybear:

I appreciate creative ideas. I LOVE finding photos that are very original. I really think being creative has a lot to do with photography :)

It's never too late to awaken hibernating creativity

:gummybear: How long have you been running #PhotoHunt for and what do you hope to get from #PhotoHunt? :gummybear:

oh gosh... Photohunt has been around for over 7 years! It's had its ups and downs but recently we've been trying to get it back to being pretty active. The main goal of photohunt is to get people out and shooting. and to be quick thinkers when it comes to shooting a set topic. We give a topic to shoot and you have 20 minutes to shoot the subject. People get really creative, which as I said before is one of the most important things when it comes to photography. I have some players that have literally been playing for YEARS and one of the best things is to watch people improve. Not only with their ideas but their photography improves over time. They begin to understand aspects of shooting and learn to fix things they do wrong :) My favorite part is just having people have FUN! Once the games get going people get addicted and keep coming back for more which tells me I've done my job in creating a great interactive group that people want to be apart of :dummy:

I advise that you try it out, it is a lot of fun!

:gummybear: An opinion on Stock Photography, do you think they are considered "art" or "tools"? :gummybear:

I don't know much about stock art but I think it could be a little of both. I feel like a photographer is taking their ART and helping others artists to use it as their tools for whatever they are working on. So pretty much artists helping artists. If that makes sense.... :paranoid:

All about how you think of it I suppose and artists should help other artists for sure

:gummybear: If you could have a choice between film or digital, what would it be and why? :gummybear:

I'd say digital because in this day in age it's a lot more practical then film. It helps you learn a lot better because you can catch your mistakes and just delete the photos instead of wasting film. Though film is fun too... Nothing is funner then developing your own film in a darkroom (well ok there are funner things but... shh!)

Funner things like what? :paranoid:

:gummybear: Now say whatever you want here, this is a random shoutbox! :gummybear:

umm umm ummm... I hope you guys enjoyed the interview and hopefully it all made sense. ( I suck with words sometimes :giggle: ) And thank you so much Tommy for the chance to be interviewed. Always a pleasure. ( even if I was a bit scared :shh: ) But anyways. I love meeting new people so if you are reading this and don't know me please feel free to come harass me on my page. Also stop by my page and give me gummybears because... I love them :gummybear: If you are reading this and do know me then... Hello! You guys all rock. :dummy: oh oh oh also. Be sure to check out :iconphotohunt: and come play with us :camera: It's funtimez.
