1. Why did you become a member of deviantART?
I came across deviantART one day by chance but I didn’t realize it was an art site, I thought it was someone’s personal website so I didn’t join until half a year later. I wanted a place to share my art and enjoy that of others, and I found a great place that offered that which I was looking for as well as a welcoming and heartwarming community that made each of my days here be unforgettable.
2. Of the 4 years you've been here, what is your biggest (and proudest) accomplishment here on deviantART? Like a time when you felt like you were right on top of the world
I’ve only been a member of deviantART for 4 years (5 in February ) and I must say it passed by too quickly . Now, about the question! I’d have to pick that week in December when I was granted my seniority by Fiona (fourteenthstar) on the 23rd (what a Christmas present!) and just a week later on December 30th I was offered a position as Gallery Moderator for the Fan Art Gallery. That week I felt like I was really appreciated and loved by the community, like I actually belonged to it and had managed to make an impact on it. I can’t even express with words all the bliss that filled me Even now, just remembering it makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside.
3. What does "Fan Art" mean to YOU?
Fan Art is a part of my life! It’s become a part of my soul. I can’t live without it. Fan art makes my world go round, I just can’t find the words to describe how I feel each time I find a glorious piece dedicated to my favourite characters and stories, the happiness and nostalgia overwhelm me, but more than that, the feeling that many people out there share the same passion as me makes me feel really at home within the community. Fan art is an expression of one’s love for someone else’s work, those who see a fan art feel both their own passion for the fandom and the love that the artist poured into the piece. It’s all about sharing the love, and that’s what makes the fan art community grow healthier and bigger by the second, you’re bound to find someone who shares your views and interests within it until you find it in your heart to call that community ‘your home’. It has become the Fan Art Kingdom for us all. We have become the Fan Art Kingdom.
4. As an artist, tell me one of the biggest challenges you had to face and how you dealt/faced with it.
Not too long ago, I felt I had finally reached the top, or the bottom depending on how you want to look at it. Looking at my artworks was enough proof that I wasn’t improving at all, no matter how much effort I’d put the result would always be average. It felt as though I could no longer keep improving, as if I had reached the limit of my artistic skills. I kept reading tutorials over and over again, and no results. I was certainly frustrated to the point where I barely wanted to draw anymore! Fortunately, I didn’t find a solution, the solution found me in the shape of Rahll. He made an incredible impact on my life, he became my new mentor, my guide, my inspiration to find new goals and ways to achieve it. Whenever I felt lost, I’d come to him for guidance and he’d always light the way to ‘the place’ where I wanted to be. Less metaphorically speaking, he helped me in any way he could when I had difficulties with my art, poses, backgrounds, anatomy fails… He always has time to help me out and kick my butt to
limits I thought existed.
5. A popular question, what program(s) do you use and why?
I use a few different ones! I mainly use Paint Tool SAI when I want to draw and colour illustrations. It has very natural and graceful blending tools that bring your drawings to life, not to mention that the lines it creates are smooth and crisp like no other . Besides, as for linearting, it has a very simple but effective linework tool that you can use easily and comfortably without a tablet! You also have a tool to edit the pressure of the line so that they will have pen pressure effect even if you are not drawing with a tablet. It’s great.
I also use Photoshop when I want to make realism pieces but I mainly use it to edit images and add special effects and text. I use Image Ready for my animations/gifs, but I don’t like it all that much.
Another program that I stalk is MangaStudio, obviously obvious is that I use it to make manga pages and small doujins. The lines aren’t the best of the best, but it has a lot of screentones to fancy your manga up!
6. If you could give advice to a complete newbie artist or for those who are struggling, what would that be?
Don’t try to go all out in your first drawings, because if you try to make an omg kawaii epic kaboom holyshift- of a piece, it will only result in fail and frustration that will make you feel like you’re not made to be an artist and that is not the way to go! You should go step by step, start from simple things, and understand that which you are trying to draw! For example, if you don’t know the body then you won’t be able to move it in your drawing, and the character will look off and not very natural and proportionate. Get to understand the basics before jumping into complicated stuff. That way you’ll improve without dealing with a major frustration attack.
So, start from the lowest level of difficulty and slowly rise it!
7. Do you have any upcoming projects planned? If you don't mind
sharing it with us, consider it a PIMP spot here!
I’m still trying to finish developing the storyline and the first manga drafts of my manga project Aequinoctium (Aequinoctium-dies). It’s a project that has been in the makings for a long time and I’m really eager to actually start drawing the first chapters, but I want it to be so perfect that it’s being quite complicated to actually manage to get something done!

Falling behind
So I know I am falling behind on a lot of things. My YouTube channel, @Charity-Guild and with a lot of other things. I am working the best I can with it. Been dealing with illness and day job stress. I will catch up, and get back on track. I just need patience. I will have that new charity project running, I promise. I just wish I had more help with my YT channel, it sure would help if I had another soul helping me produce content. Hope to get back on track soon.
